ProPresenter and OS X 10.9 Mavericks

I’m always cautious to upgrade my software too quickly. If everything is working properly why risk installing an update and running into problems? Apple OS X 10.9 Mavericks has been out for a few months now and RenewedVision, the makers of ProPresenter, have given the green light saying it is now safe to run their program on the newest OS X. The application has been heavily tested and all of the big bugs have been squished.

Although the program is stable there are still a few issues that are still being addressed.

How to remove the top menu bar in ProPresenter?

If you have issues with your output not going to the correct screen or your menu bar appearing over your output then follow these steps:

  1. Open Apple System Preferences by clicking the Apple logo at the top left of your screen and choose “System Preferences” in the list.
  2. Click on the “Mission Control” icon.
  3. Uncheck “Displays have separate Spaces” checkbox.
  4. Logout and login to make these change to take effect.

Keynote 6 and ProPresenter 5

There is a currently a known issue with Keynote files launched from ProPresenter when using Keynote 6 (the latest version) and Mavericks. After launching the Keynote file, ProPresenter does not “hand over” control of the Keynote presentation to the Keynote application, so you must manually click on the Keynote presenter view for the arrow keys to work in Keynote. We are looking into this issue.

Missing Display Resolutions when using a TripleHead2Go

If you use a Matrox DualHead2Go or TripleHead2Go and you cannot find a way to set the display resolution properly for the device, if you hold down the “option” key when clicking “scaled” in your display preferences may reveal a number of additional resolution options that are not visible by clicking “scaled” alone.

Manage Media Automatically Not Working

If you have “Manage Media Automatically” checked, you may need to reapply the permissions on that folder if you are having trouble adding new media to ProPresenter. To do this, open ProPresenter’s General Preferences. Click on the magnifying glass next to the Media Repository file path. When Finder opens, close ProPresenter. Select the Media Repository folder and press Command-I. Expand the Sharing & Permissions section, click on the lock, and enter your admin username and password. Make sure your user account is set to “Read & Write”. Click on the gear icon at the bottom of the window and select “Apply to Enclosed Items” and then click “OK.” This should fix this issue for you.
